Precision photography

for every subject

‍ ‍Imagination

for that moment

Why I photograph

I believe photography is the ultimate democratic art discipline. Anyone can take a photograph, not everybody can take a good photograph and hardly anyone takes a great photograph. I aspire to the middle and hope one day to create a great image .

I photograph to preserve fleeting moments, to express my creativity, fire up my imagination and the best way to share my perspective on the world . I find photography a challenge , it helps me notice my environment and stay in the moment. Its a puzzle but helps me look through windows and corridors of my life.

It brings me joy and frustration in roughly equal measures.

A young man with short hair and glasses sitting at a table, resting his head on his hand, looking down in thought, wearing a patterned shirt.
A person walking down a corridor with a patterned floor in a building, with artwork on the left wall and large windows on the right.
A black and white photo of an interior space with high windows, ceiling lights, and built-in furniture along the wall.
A person lying face down on the floor wrapped in a gray and orange sleeping bag in front of a dark green wall with white text about sleep and mental health.

MY RULES OF THE ROAD

These are my guidelines being a set of self imposed rules setting out my ethics; my artistic goals

and to ensure a balance between consistency , professionalism and creative fulfilment.

RIGHTS and RESPECT

I will always respect individuals privacy ; protect my subjects identity especially if they are sensitive .

I understand copyright and as necessary secure written permissions when shooting in private locations .

VISION and QUALITY

I will define a clear subject - I don’t make my viewer struggle .If it’s abstract then I’ll set the scene

Composition - take heed of techniques such as the rule of thirds

but as necessary or required for effect then I‘ll break the barrier

Integrity - I don’t misrepresent a person or location

MY GROWTH

Never stop learning - push techniques and vision .

Don’t spend too much time on safe easy subjects - outside the comfort zone

Commit to personal projects to ensure creative freedom

with a clearly defined brief prepared first

and the project gets completed

I will photograph to express my vision and perspective ; to constantly evolve my technical skills

          SHOOT FOR MYSELF FIRST

and others second

Trying to reach out of the box - strive to do something different
